The talk will then address the evidence base for anti-inflammatory therapy in cardiovascular prevention, summarising key trial data, including the CANTOS trial (canakinumab) and subsequent studies on low-dose colchicine (LoDoCo2 and COLCOT), which demonstrated reductions in major adverse cardiovascular events independent of lipid lowering. Lifestyle and pharmacological strategies that reduce inflammation as part of the broader cardiovascular risk reduction will also be covered. We will discuss practical take-home messages: how to interpret results in context, and how this evolving evidence might shape conversations with patients about residual risk, particularly those who remain at elevated cardiovascular risk. This concise, evidence-based update is designed to equip colleagues with a clear, current understanding of inflammation’s role in cardiovascular disease and practical tools to apply this knowledge in routine consultations
