IMASA Port Shepstone
The IMASA Port Shepstone Branch is involved in sustainable health care, promotes good health care practices and works with local clinics and hospitals in an integrated manner.
Our main are on two specific projects; the IMASA Day Care in Oshabeni and secondly the Al Huda Orphanage in Marburg. The Day Care Centre for children between the ages of 3 & 5 from the disadvantaged rural community of Oshabeni, 20km outside the town of Port Shepstone. The idea behind the Day Care Centre is to provide a safe, nurturing environment for children to learn and thrive in. Taking care of the children allows the parent/s or guardian/s to go out and find work, feeling secure that their children are taken care of at no charge to them. By providing the community with this service, we hope to encourage every adult member of the family to go out and seek employment. This will then directly increase each household’s income, hopefully improving their quality of life. The Al-Huda Girls Orphanage receives comprehensive dental treatment every 6 months for the past 8 years. This is an ongoing commitment at no cost to the orphanage.
IN ADDITION TO THIS WE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE FOLLOWING PROJECTS:
IMASA Port Shepstone is involved in fund raising and the collection of supplies to send to areas like Yemen, Syria, Palestine and the Rohingya People.
Providing the community of Oshabeni with free water from a borehole on the property. Considerable efforts were made to erect the borehole, from fund-raising and overcoming bureaucratic red-tape.
Free medical and dental treatment provided to deserving Ulema, Islamic Da’wah workers and other deserving community members from surrounding areas at no cost or reduced fee.
Doctors from the local IMASA also service the South Coast community with vaccines for Haj and Umrah working closely with the Port Shepstone Haj Assist Committee.
At present our team is made up of 3 medical doctors and 1 dentist and we hope to see many fellow local colleagues join our cause in the near future Inshaa Allah. We have managed to involve the Port Shepstone community and local businesses, who have joined our team, in working towards a common goal, seeing to the basic needs of our fellow human beings. By the grace and mercy of God, our journey continues.
