The 39th Annual IMASA Convention was hosted by the Western Cape Branch and took place at the NH Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West form 14-16 June 2019. The Lord Charles Hotel has become a household brand for the Cape Town Conference. The pleasant and helpful staff and management made our visit to this old venue feel like home away from home. We sincerely hope that our Delegates had a memorable stay in their upgraded rooms. All Delegates were warmly welcomed to a very chilly and cold Cape Town. Some difficulties were experienced by a few of our Delegates who flew in and could not land at Cape Town International Airport on the Friday evening, while some arrived later due to flights being diverted. Sadly, a few eventually had to cancel their participation at this year’s conference as their flights were forced to turn back due to poor weather conditions. Allah knows best and know that you were sorely missed!!!

This year’s Spouse Programme was a huge success, heralded by Dr Ameerah Adam who graciously and humbly shared her spiritual journey. She had the audience gripped as she spoke about overcoming challenges, her spiritual motivation and love for The Quraan. Her tafseer of Surah Sajdah was so powerful that it had most of the audience in tears. Her session became the talk of the conference and spread so quickly that we had to add two further sessions, the last of which only ended as the Convention Dinner was waiting. Reheema Essack delivered an impressive and very informative presentation on the Islamic Wills. Although this is a complex topic, she simplified the issues and the ladies were left with a better understanding and more insight about inheritance. Most of the spouses also participated in the Archery, a Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Mohammad (SAW). It was great fun and we blame the cold weather for not hitting the target! The fashion show was well attended and buzzing with displays of the latest trends and stunning styles. The Spouse Programme concluded with introducing the benefits of cupping, another Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Mohammad (SAW), with thought–provoking discussions leaving them wanting to experience it themselves.
