The Voice of Hind Rajab — A Night to Remember
On 1 May, IMASA and Palestine House came together for a deeply moving evening that left no heart untouched.
The night opened with something that stopped everyone in their tracks — a replica of the Kia that little Hind Rajab and her family members were in when Israeli forces fired over 350 rounds into it, killing them all. No introduction was needed. The car said everything. A heartfelt thank you to Mandos Auto Spares for making this powerful tribute possible. 🙏🏽
Guests were welcomed with snacks, warmth, and time to connect before an evening that would move us all.
A heartfelt thank you to Barham for so graciously providing the venue that made this night possible — your generosity set the stage for everything. 🙏🏽
The space itself was made even more meaningful by the stunning paintings and artwork from Gaza, generously sponsored by our incredible partners. Each piece a story. Each brushstroke a voice. 🎨🇵🇸
It was within this powerful setting that the formal programme commenced, guided by our MC, Shabnam Palesa Mohamed, who set the tone for the evening ahead.
The programme began with a beautiful Qira’ah recited by Ahmed Abdul Latiff, grounding the gathering in reflection and purpose.
Guests were then welcomed by Yasiera Suliman, who delivered a powerful opening address, reminding all present that Palestinians — and now even communities in South Lebanon — must never be reduced to mere statistics. Her message called for a reawakening of both emotion and responsibility, urging that what we feel must translate into meaningful action. She also extended words of appreciation to all those who contributed to making the evening possible.
Continuing in her role beyond hosting, Shabnam Palesa Mohamed also shared the powerful vision for Palestine House — a future museum and memorial dedicated to Palestine’s history, its struggles, and the memory of Hind Rajab and all those who have suffered. A space of culture, remembrance, and living legacy.
We were honoured to hear from our distinguished speakers:
Solly Suliman, representing the Islamic Medical Association, shared exciting milestones — including the expansion of the IMA Frail Care Centre’s 2nd floor and the launch of the Deering Project, a brand new mini hospital and step-down facility serving our most vulnerable community members.
Dr Imtiaz Sooliman took to the floor and stirred something deep in every guest — challenging us all to shift our mindset and give from the heart, not out of obligation. His words were a reminder that real change starts from within.
Dr Faisal Suliman then led a passionate and energised charity art auction — with all proceeds going directly toward building Palestine House; its décor, café and everything that will make it a living tribute.
Then the lights dimmed. 🎞️
The Voice of Hind Rajab screened — and the room bore witness together.
There are no words that fully capture what happened in that room as the film played. Tears fell quietly. Breaths were held. Hearts broke open. Guests sat with the weight of what they were seeing — not as distant news, but as truth. The story of a little girl, her family, and a people who deserve to be seen, heard and never forgotten. When the lights came back on, the silence spoke louder than anything. Eyes were red. Souls were stirred. And something shifted — a collective realisation that we cannot look away, we cannot stay comfortable, and we cannot be silent. The film did not just move people — it awakened them. 💔
Evenings like this remind us — community is not just about showing up. It’s about feeling, remembering, and building something that lasts.
To everyone who came, gave, and stayed — thank you. You are the reason Palestine House will stand. 🤍🇵🇸
