Kidney Day Awareness at Orient School
IMASA Durban Renal Dialysis Unit celebrates World Kidney Day Awareness at Orient School
On the Friday morning, 6 march, the IMASA Durban Renal Dialysis Unit commemorated World Kidney Day by visiting Orient Islamic School to educate high school learners on the importance of kidney health and how to protect their kidneys from damage that could lead to dialysis.
The renal unit staff conducted an informative and engaging session, sharing practical advice on maintaining healthy kidneys. Learners were educated about healthy eating habits, foods that can harm the body, and the negative effects of substances such as excess caffeine and smoking on kidney function.
The session sparked great interest among the learners, who actively participated and asked several insightful questions. Many were particularly curious about how energy drinks, workout supplements, and protein powders may affect kidney health. After the session, several students approached the team with additional questions about the impact of certain gym products and high protein intake on the kidneys.
The session was a great success, leaving learners with valuable knowledge and practical health tips to help them take better care of their kidneys.
