Protest at the Sandton Convention Centre

IMASA and fellow activists staged a protest at the Sandton Convention Centre today, objecting to the invitation of Prof. Fabian Didi, Director of Sheba Medical Centre Israel, as a speaker at the Ophthalmological Conference.

Sheba Medical Centre is complicit in Israel’s military actions, which have resulted in a genocide in Gaza. Medical institutions should be spaces of healing, not enablers of oppression and war crimes.

As healthcare professionals and human rights defenders, we refuse to turn a blind eye to these injustices. We stand in solidarity with the people of Gaza and will continue to advocate for justice, accountability, and the right to healthcare free from political and military interference.

Silence is complicity. Our voices will not be silenced.
